Classes, in principle, will be held in the classroom as a normal, face-to-face class. But three classes(Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 24) have to be taught online due to the entrance exam schedule. Course Description: This is an introductory lecture on the literary works produced in Britain during the Romantic period in which the idea of modernity was first conceived. The canonical poems by the six major poets are still the main targets of course, but they will be explored in the context of the modernity that has expressed itself in all aspects of British society after the French Revolution. Main emphasis falls on a close reading of the key texts such as "London," "Tintern Abbey," and "Ode to a Nightingale," but they will be read more as a part of artistic expression of the modern mind we still share in the 21st century.Text: Norton Anthology II(8th edition) or any other downloadable texts from electronic sourcesLanguage: This course will be taught in Korean.Requirements: Two Exams and Two Short Papers(2 pages, about 500 words each)Evaluation: Attendance and Class Participation 10%, Papers 10%, Midterm Exam 40%, Final Exam 40%.
