Course Description : This is an introduction to British and American Literature. Students will read a selection of literary works in English to learn basic skills of literary studies. Students are required to read the designated texts beforehand for each class. This section is open for everyone except the freshmen in the Division of English Language and Literature. This class will be conducted in Korean.

Text : The Norton Introduction to Literature (Portable 13th Edition, 2020) by Kelly J. Mays. Other secondary materials will be provided at the Ewha Cyber Campus and the Website  http://armytage.net

Evaluation : Midterm exam 35%, Final exam 35%, Two Short Papers 20%, Class participation and Attendance 10%.

Attendance : If you fail to attend 10 classes or more, you will automatically get F. Being late more than 10 minutes for the class two times will count one absence. If you think you are ill with an infection of Corona 19 Virus, please stay home. You can be excused up to three weeks without any penalty with a document issued by the hospital where you were diagnosed or treated. 

Tentative Reading Schedule *

Due to the recent Corona 19 virus problem, the lectures are supposed to be conducted in the “mixed type” that contains both online and offline classes, but may be changed into 100% online(real time) classes later. More details will be announced just before the term starts.
